The original property at 61 Sea Road was an unlisted art deco dwelling set within generous grounds slightly elevated above Sea Road in Carlyon Bay. The property was a detached two storey unit with no. 61 being the end of three similarly designed art deco detached properties. The dwelling underwent a number of unsympathetic alterations since its original build, including a single storey rear lean to extension and the replacement of its original windows.

The original house suffered from poor energy performance and damp therefore it was decided that, environmentally and financially, the most appropriate route would be to demolish and rebuild the property.

The result is a four bedroom, three-storey house, with a gentle nod to the sites previous Art Deco occupant. The garage is now beneath the house accessed via an arching driveway to the side of the property. A feature staircase and lift are available to reach the main accommodation. The layout takes full advantage of the location with all rooms benefiting from a view of St Austell Bay.

The project was completed in Spring 2011 by Dudden Construction.
